Trinity Hall

It is very difficult to translate into words our three years at Trinity Hall; how they have flown by! From the first time we struggled through the narrow one-way system of central Cambridge to arrive at this tucked-away College, Trinity Hall has felt like a pocket of calm amidst the swirling Cambridge storm.

We began with a very Cambridge freshers’ week of workshops and talks, and learnt our way around College, discovering Tit Wall and becoming the subject of many a tourist snap in the process. Patient Porters rescued us when we locked ourselves out of rooms and helped patch up bike-related injuries. We learnt the difference between Mainsbury’s, Slocal’s and Farawaynsbury’s, and how far is too far to take it at a bop. The passage of time was marked by weekly welfare tea, and we were learning about celebratory exam spraying before we knew it.

Second year began with a shipping off to Wychfield and newfound empathy for the hill Colleges. We were sustained by visits from alpacas and petting zoos, which were much required when part of the dining hall roof collapsed just before our Halfway Hall. Normal order was soon restored, and a successful June Event and garden party rounded off our year.

Our final Michaelmas was preceded by the sad news of the passing of Silly, our Master’s cat, who has been greatly missed. Latham Lawn is not the same without his orange self nestled somewhere.

This year has left us all better acquainted with the silent room and dungeon of the Jerwood Library, and feeling an anticipatory nostalgia as our time here draws to a close. As we prepare for all the ‘lasts’ – last drink in the Aula, last Meat-free Monday, last supo essay – we know this won’t be the last time we think of Trinity Hall.
