Selwyn
Writing this in Selbar with a pint in hand, accompanied by drunken piano playing, I am struck by just how many wonderful memories have been created at Selwyn in the last three years. It is truly impossible to encapsulate the student experience here in only three hundred words, but there are a few core elements that always stand out. The people, the gardens, the proximity to Sidge, the bops, and the brunches – and without any doubt, these delivered. Most important to me has always been the community, which is so invested in one another, brought together by endless induction talks and the horror of freshers’ week Vinyl.
We have stood side-by-side through Voi injuries, supervision deadlines, the endless confusion of the bar opening times, hungover
Snowball to Varsity, and a certain someone’s tooth-related injury. Despite all of this, with every school visit or new year group that I have welcomed to the College, I am always excited to represent Selwyn and confident that it has something special to offer.
As we leave Selwyn this July, I hope we take so much more than our degrees with us: that we bring the warmth, care, and diligence that Selwyn has fostered into the next phases of our lives.
It has been such a privilege to be a member of this College, and I can’t wait to see what everyone gets up to next. If it is anything close to the array of talent and dedication that our cohort has displayed in our time here, I have no doubt it will be spectacular.
Thank you to all the students, staff, and fellows who have devoted their time and energy to supporting the community at Selwyn. I am so proud to be a Selwynite.
