As we come to the end of our time at Murray Edwards, it's hard not to look back and smile.
We all arrived here three years ago, bright-eyed freshers, not knowing what this place would mean to us. We brought back the garden party. We watched Lolas become Kikis. We will miss Patrick making fun drinks in the café and Iga closing it down in the evenings. I'll even miss fighting with the MCR about formal tickets. I can't believe my last Apple Day passed me by; I know now I should have eaten more apples.
I most loved ArcSoc life drawing in the Dome and somehow getting to renovate the Coach House. Nothing will ever replace this brutalist utopia of possibilities, surrounded by women's art and flowers.
In a couple of months, a new batch of freshers will walk these halls
and make the Dome home, unaware of all the little traditions and memories we made here. It's both an honour and a consolation to join Claudia Winkleman and Winkley Winkley in the student alumni network, and I can’t wait to be on the receiving end of the telephone campaign in the years to come.
Thank you to everyone who made this place what it was. The Porters, Dorothy, the wonderful gardeners, the cleaners, the catering team, our academic supervisors, and most importantly, you guys. Congratulations to the class of 2026! I am so proud to know you all and so excited to see what adventures come next. Jess Hammond
