Homerton

“Hom is such a trek…” the other Colleges may say but I think we’d all agree there’s no place like Hom(e), as we have discovered over the past three years together. And yes, our time may have been spent waiting for the U bus only for it to not show up or cycling across the city from lectures to supervisions and Mainsbury’s may seem like far-away-nsbury’s; however, whether you picked Homerton or were pooled here, it didn’t take long to realise we’d landed somewhere quietly yet chaotically special.

Maybe it was West House: our lift-perpetually-broken, compact castle/social experiment where it all began. Maybe it was HomFess, may she rest in peace, who held our confessions, grievances and questionable decisions with utmost faith. Maybe it was the beautiful gardens (with grass we can actually sit on) or the buttery fuelling our hungover deadline panic, periods of procrastination and post-supervision decompression. Whatever your reason and wherever you stand on Roast vs Brunch, we will forever cherish our Hom away from home.

One thing's for sure: it's been an honour to have a community so warm, friendly and full of diversity. Along the way, W1 and W3 took home blades, HCAFC had their best cup run, HomVeggiePatch bloomed and wilted, and HomMatchaSoc grew from a niche idea into a uni-versal triumph. We adopted the Homerton Fox alongside our beloved ducks, danced through Halloween Bops, and watched owls soar through the Great Hall during the Enchanted Forest Formals. As we witnessed the aurora in the orchard wearing pyjamas, our experience solidified as magical. When the Last Dinner Party abandoned us Jedward saved the day, and honestly? It was #JEPIC. They say home isn’t a place, it’s people. Well, Hom for me, is both.

Here’s to us, the A Team.
