Corpus Christi
I like to think of Corpus as our small ‘underground’ College. And yet, over our time here, I’m so proud of how we’ve helped it grow by getting our name out there, making headlines, and of course, popping off with the Pelikind. I’m convinced we’ll all miss the ‘initials/Corpuscles as…’ posts, and I’d like to claim that our year were the trendsetters.
Like anything worthwhile, our time here has had its ups and downs. Corpus Challenge is the perfect example. It showcased just how talented and lively Corpus Cambridge really is. We even won by a landslide over Oxford, 19-6! On the other hand, we’ve faced adversity, most notably the tragic (but thankfully temporary) theft of our beloved pelican sign. Rest assured, it has been recovered and is safe.
There are far too many shared experiences to name them all: napping in the Taylor, champagne being confiscated, our collective
love of accommodation, fire alarm gatherings at Newnham House, the infamous slack, unbeatable brunches and, of course, touching grass quite literally on Old Court during Easter term.
Graduating is bittersweet, but it’s also a special moment, bringing us all back together again, from matriculation to halfway hall and now to this. Rather than seeing this as an ending, it feels more like a beginning. Corpus has held our hand and prepared us for everything that lies beyond this small, comforting bubble. At the heart of it all, it’s the corpuscles, the people, and the community that have made Corpus our second home. And that’s something we’ll carry with us long after we leave.
